Description:
Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting various equipment, including ammonia refrigeration compressors, steam boilers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, compressed air and water systems, water testing & treatment, chemical addition, glycol heat transfer pumps, boiler startup & shutdown, fire pump testing, correspondence with fire system, scheduled defrosting of freezer tunnels as well as other duties; Adhering to and enforcing all safety protocols, including the use of PPE, as outlined by corporate policy and TSSA Acts & Regulations; Responding to radio and phone calls and providing solutions, including performing millwrighting work as needed; Performing daily rounds of the facility, monitoring ammonia refrigeration plants and powerhouse boilers using computer systems; Maintaining ammonia and steam piping, ammonia system cleaning, performing equipment repairs, including roof maintenance and upper mezzanine work; Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a refrigeration or steam facility; Carry the following certifications: 3rd Class Engineer preferred; 4th Class Engineer with Refrigeration B ticket would be considered; Experience working with ammonia is an asset; Must have a knowledge of screw and reciprocating compressors, ammonia & water pumps, cooling towers; Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; Punctuality, reliability, and willingness to learn; Must meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.; Flexibility to work a 12-hour continental shift schedule, cover vacation shifts, and work overtime or on-call as needed; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
