Description:

Reporting to the Returning Officer or designate, new hire will: Work closely with the Training Officer and Finance Officer; Lead the overall recruitment team in the returning office; Recruit, hire, and schedule training for all Revising Agents, advance poll and polling day officials as determined by the Returning Officer; Recruit the standbys from the applications received; Recruit, hire, and schedule training for all returning office staff, as determined by the Returning Officer; Lead in the collection of all human resource and finance documentation for all hires; Make the collected information available to the Finance Officer; Prepare and submit timesheets and mileage claims for all returning office staff and poll officials; Enter data for recruitment, banking information, and training classes; Perform other duties as assigned by the Returning Officer and/or Election Clerk.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in recruitment and human resources practices; Experience with community involvement; Experience with computer applications such as web browser, Microsoft Word®, and Excel® spreadsheets; Returning office or election campaign experience is an asset; Able to complete data entry using specific software programs; Basic knowledge of the electoral district; Knowledge of the electoral process and the function and skill level requirements of the various positions being filled; Solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a variety of people; Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and communicate solutions to staff in an efficient and timely manner; Proficient use of conversational English (and French where required); additional language is an asset; Good telephone interviewing techniques; Sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities and/or low literacy skills; Accurate record keeping; Able to identify and verify hard copy information provided by employees in a timely manner; Composure under pressure; Good organizational skills; Ability to understand, rationalize, and resolve situations efficiently as they escalate; Ability to work for long stretches of time especially during election days; Must be 18 years of age or older; Must be eligible to work in Canada. Training dates: March 4 to March 6 in London, Ontario. The candidate MUST be able to travel to training during this time. Accommodation, meals and mileage are covered.
